Great Pilgrimage of Hope

At a pivotal moment for the Catholic Church in Asia, the Great Pilgrimage of Hope is all set to bring together bishops, priests, religious, deacons and lay leaders from across the continent to the vibrant city of Penang to discern, discuss, celebrate, and chart the course for the future-truly a landmark event and a defining occasion for the Church.

Organised by FABC OE of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences, the event will explore new paths, narratives, and dynamics that are rooted in our Catholic identity and resonate with Asia's rich cultural tapestry through collaborative dialogue and shared wisdom.

The Great Pilgrimage of Hope 2025 is organised by FABC OE, hosted by the Diocese of Penang, supported by PMS Asia, and in collaboration with the Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.

The GPH 2025 logo and promo video bring together the core ideas of the theme — hope, communion, and the radiant light of the Gospel—held together by a simple, memorable, and contemporary form and enlivened by the rich and vibrant colours of the Asian continent. The logo and identity were chosen from among a set of entries by talented designers from across different parts of Asia.

“Journeying together as peoples of Asia… and they went a different way.” (Mt 2:12) The theme of the Great Pilgrimage of Hope captures the unique journey and calling of the Church in Asia.

The event invites all participants to be part of this historic mission – to walk together as peoples of Asia, discovering new ways to share the Gospel while honoring our rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions.
